Dumas Pitre, Jr.

Dumas "John" M. Pitre Jr., 81, a native and resident of Golden Meadow, died at 2:05 p.m. Sunday, July 24, 2011.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to funeral time Wednesday at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church. Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with burial at Cheramie Cemetery in Galliano.
He is survived by three sons, David Pitre and wife, Sandra Griffin Pitre, Ronald Pitre and wife, Peggy Eschette Pitre, and Alan Pitre; three daughters, Gail Griffin and husband, Jimmie, Jeanne Rodrigue and husband, Steve, and Patty Cheramie and husband, Teddy; one brother, Easton Pitre and wife, Mildred Cheramie Pitre; family friend, Jack Clifton; 11 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and six step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alzina "Lasur" Guidry Pitre; his parents, Dumas Pitre Sr. and Helise P. Pitre; one infant son; one brother, Edward Pitre; three sisters, Josephine Guidry, Lorida Serigny and Lorita Falgout; and three great-grandchildren.
He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church.
