John Lewis, Ph.D

Dr. John C. Lewis, Ph.D, 88, a native of Akron, OH, former resident of Monroe, LA, and current resident of Houma, LA, passed away on January 18, 2019.
Visitation will be held from 10 AM until service time at 11 AM on Monday, January 21 at Grace Lutheran Church in Houma, LA. Burial will take place at a later date in Bellwood, PA.
He is survived by his son, Jay A. Lewis and wife, Teri; daughter, Janice Lamy and husband, Ed; companion, Edna Marie Sevin; 4 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey Lewis; parents, James Lewis and Esther Lewis; and brother, Jim Lewis.
He was a professor of geography at ULM for 30 years. An avid musician, he performed with various orchestras and bands throughout his career, playing most recently with the two local Terrebonne Parish community bands and playing the violin with the South Louisiana Orchestra.
