Doris Bychurch Cochennic

Doris Bychurch Cochennic, a native and resident of Cut Off, Louisiana,
passed away on November 22, 2023, at 81. She grew up on Bayou Lafourche,
where she met the love of her life, her husband of 57 years, Joffery Jean
Cochennic Jr.
Doris graduated from Charity School of Nursing in New Orleans, LA, and
would work for 33 years of her career at Lady of the Sea General Hospital, for various doctors' offices on the bayou, and her last years of nursing before her retirement at South Lafourche Nursing Center.
She was a lifetime Weight Watchers member and a 25-year Taking Off
Pounds Simply (TOPS) member.
However, her most significant source of love and pride was and has always been her family, survived by two daughters and their husbands, Michelle and Don Porth, and their two children, Anna and Luke of Seattle, Washington, and Suzanne and Blyght Wunstell and their four boys, Brock, Brance, Brooks, and Bray of Houma, Louisiana.
Sisters-in-law Jackie Bychurch of Belle Chasse, Louisiana, and Elaine
(William) Simon of Lafayette, Louisiana. Godchildren Cindy Chabert of Cut
Off, Louisiana, Shayne Bychurch of Belle Chasse, Louisiana, and Billy
Bychurch of Golden Meadow, Louisiana.
Pre-deceased by her parents, Albert and Angelique Mayet Bychurch;
brothers, Charlie (Theresa) Bychurch, Noah (Irene)Bychurch, Raymond
Bychurch, and Irvin Bychurch; and sisters, Bernice (Alex) Dufrene, Rose (Walter) Chabert, and Odette Bychurch. Her in-laws, Joffery and Kate Bourg
Cochennic, Dianna (Albert) Cochennic Cheramie.

Services will be held on Thursday, December 21, 2023, at Sacred Heart
Catholic Church in Cut Off, Louisiana. Visitation is from 10-12, with a
funeral mass at 12:00 pm. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
