Donald Anthony Bourg
December 5, 1931 — August 22, 2018
Donald Anthony Bourg, 86, a native and resident of Houma, began his walk with Jesus on August 22, 2018, after a courageous 7-year battle with cancer and the side effects of radiation treatment.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years and the love of his life, Kathleen Thibodeaux Bourg; sons, Jerome Bourg and wife Kathy, David Bourg and wife Marlene, and Darin Bourg and former wife Renee; his pride and joy and only grandchild, Kaitlyn Elizabeth Bourg; step granddaughter, Rana Price; step great-grandchildren, Alissa Vincent and Dylan Fabregas; step great-great grandchild, Maelyn Autin; Godchildren, Sterling Bourg, Debra Chauvin, and Pam Nottingham; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his only daughter, Donna Ann Bourg Price; son-in law, Robert “Snoopy” Price; parents, Lanson Bourg and Eva Hebert Bourg; brother, Murphy Bourg; and sisters, Rosella Thibodeaux (Evans) and Ismay Lapeyrouse (Dewey).
He served 22 months fighting for his country in the Korean War. He worked in surveying and offshore and spent 34 years with Main Iron Works Shipyard before retirement.
He was an amazing man who loved his family with his every breath. Before his illness, he was always working in his yard, helping his children and neighbors, fishing, or playing Pedro or Farkle with his friends. He and his Sweetheart, Kathleen, spent many Saturday nights dancing with friends. He did everything with a smile.
He will be missed by all who knew him.
The family would like to thank everyone for the prayers and love for the past 7 years. We would also like to thank Dr. Patrick Walker, Dr. Gregory Maidoh, Dr. Ralph Bourgeois, Dr. Eric Jukes, Dr. David Pellegrin, AMG Hospital staff, and the 3rd floor, 4th floor, and CCU staff at TGMC for the countless hours of care given to him.
A visitation will be held on Friday, August 24, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. at Falgout Funeral Home in Houma and will resume again on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at St. Bernadette Soubirous Catholic Church from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Saturday at St. Bernadette Soubirous Catholic Church with interment to follow at St. Francis De Sales Cemetery II.
