Don Joseph Cheramie

Don Joseph Cheramie, passed away peacefully on December 3, 2023 at 6:30 am. He was a native of Golden Meadow and a resident of Galliano. He was a retired safety Consultant and a co-founder and officer of the Krewe of Pointers Children’s Mardi Gras Parade. He loved football, deer hunting, fishing, camping and dancing. He enjoyed being with people especially kids. He was a Devout Catholic, honest and giving person loved by all; he had no enemies. He was a great husband and father.

Visitation will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, in Galliano, on Friday, December 8th from 9 am until service time. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11am with burial to follow in Cheramie Cemetery.

He was survived by his stepsons, TJ (Ellen), Marty (Vivian) and Nicky (Dixie) Sevin; sisters, Louverda Renfrow and Rita Pennisi; brothers, Oris Jay Jr. (Willie), James Zoe (Sonya) Cheramie. He enjoyed 6 grandkids and 5 great grandkids.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Bernice Terrebonne Cheramie; parents, Oris and Fredia “Bada” Cheramie; step-daughter, Kathy (Sevin) Billiot; brother-in-law, Rexie L. Renfrow; nephew, Rexie Renfrow Jr. and great-nephew, Michael John Worlow.

The family would like to thank the staff at Thibodaux Regional Hospital and Cancer Center, along with St. Joseph Hospice for their kind care bestowed upon him.

He will be missed by many. In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to help with funeral expenses. Falgout Funeral Home is honored to serve the Cheramie family.
