Deacon Landry J. Matherne

Deacon Landry J. Matherne, 77, a native and resident of Des Allemands, died at 5:53 p.m. Friday, March 16, 2012.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to funeral time Tuesday at St. Gertrude Catholic Church in Des Allemands. Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church, with interment in the church cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Patsy H. Matherne; children, Terry Matherne and wife, Anita, Wade Matherne and wife, Elaine, Brian Matherne and wife, Maria, Brent Matherne and wife, Maureen, and Jill Granier; siblings, Carrie Loupe, Clothilde Dempster and Martha Carlos; and 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roger and Bertha Cortez Matherne; and brother, Roger Vincent Matherne.
He was a Deacon for 27 years in the New Orleans Diocese and was also was a Scout Master.
Falgout Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
