David A. Savin, Jr.

David Anthony Savin Jr left his earthly home to be enveloped in the arms of his Lord and Savior, quietly and peacefully surrounded by his loving family on December 3, 2017. He was born on February 8, 1949, in New Orleans.

Visitation will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Galliano on Dec. 6, 2017 from 9:00 am until service time. A funeral mass will be held at St Joseph Catholic Church in Galliano beginning at 11:00 o'clock with burial following in the church cemetery.

He is survived by his devoted wife of over 51 years, Shirley Vizier Savin, his daughter Shannon Savin Altmeyer and husband Robert, his sons Michael Vizier Jr and fiancee' Kassie Thibodeaux, Chad Savin, Scott Savin, and his Mother-in-Law, Gerline Esponge Vizier. He is also survived by his brothers, Richard Savin and his wife Susanna, Roland Savin and his wife Pamela, as well as his brother-in-law Joseph Palermo Sr.

He leaves behind step-grandchildren Maddie and Ryan Thibodeaux and a host of godchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces, and great-great nephews.

David was preceded in death by his son, Chad James Savin, father David Anthony Savin Sr, his step-mother Margaret "Ann" Savin, his mother Lucille Martinez, his sisters Brenda Nichols and husband Bob, Elaine Palermo, his brother, Alfred Savin Sr and wife Terrie, nephews Ernest Palermo, Alfred Savin Jr. and Brock Savin.

David, who was affectionately known as "Pops" was a boat captain for 46 years and loved the water and fishing. He never met a stranger and had the best sense of humor. He enjoyed carpentry and mechanics, and was fond of saying that he could fix anything but a broken heart. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who were blessed to have known him.
