Claudette Mcgee David

Claudette Marie McGee David, 86, left this world to join her savior and departed family on April 20, 2022.

A beloved mother and grandmother, Claudette is survived by her husband of 65 years, Jimmy David. Her daughter Jill David Cheramie. Her son and daughter-in-law Donovan and Deborah Remont David. Granddaughters Dione David, Donielle David Cazayoux and grandson-in-law, Jonathan Cazayoux. Two great-grandsons, Grayson Tyler and Edward Jon Cazayoux. Nieces Donna Arnett and Stacy Matherne and great-nieces Annie and Ashlee Matherne.

Claudette was preceded in death by her parents Angelle Pitre McGee and William “Claude” McGee. Her grandsons Tyler Cheramie and Korte Cheramie. Her son-in-law Jay “Jody” Cheramie. Sister-in-law Beverly David Arnett. In-laws Clarence and Norma David.

She resided in Cut Off, LA throughout her lifetime, except for the years when she was working as an X-Ray Technician at Charity Hospital in Lafayette.

Maw, as she was affectionately called by her grandchildren, was an avid cheerleader for them. She could be found at every sport’s game and dance recital whether in Cut Off or Kansas. She passed along her love of sewing to Dione and Donielle and her competitive nature to Tyler and Korte.

Claudette loved her family and was always reminiscing about loved ones that have departed. She knew every birthdate, death date and anniversary date of her family. She found great joy in weekends at the New Orleans Fairgrounds. Claudette never met a stranger. She was happiest making friends and learning their life stories.

Her loss will be deeply felt by the many friends and family that loved her.

A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
