Chris Anthony “Chris Cross” Adams passed away on Monday, January 18, 2021 at 3:09 p.m. at his home. He was 67.
This beautiful, sweet soul —my Dad— was born August 18, 1953 in Lockport, La., and has been a resident of Houma, La. since September 2018 at his instant-home-away-from-home Terrebonne Place Assisted Living.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation at Falgout Funeral Home, 600 Church St, Lockport, Sunday, January 24th 5:00pm – 9:00pm, and Monday, January 25th 8:00am to 10:45am. A mass of Christian burial will be held at Holy Savior Catholic Church at 11:00 am with burial to follow in Holy Savior’s Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest with his father.
He is survived by his beautiful mother, Winnie LeBlanc Adams; his loving daughter, Erika Adams Falgout, husband Keith, with two grandsons, Hayes & Colton, one grandpup, Buddy; sisters, Dale Denson, Mary Adams, and Andrea Chase, husband Frank; brother, Earlis Jay Adams, Jr., wife Sonia; brother-in-law, Danny Talbot. Chris is also survived by three godchildren Celeste, Krystie, and Jackie; nephews Todd, David, Jeremy, Jacob, and Jonathan; nieces Melissa, Amy, Celeste, Renee, Danielle, Krystie, Mandi; many great-nephews/great-nieces, cousins, and an entire FAMILY at Terrebonne Place.
He is preceded in death by his father, Earlis Adams, Sr.; Grandparents, Lovance & Lillian LeBlanc Adams, and Salvador & Mary Boudreaux LeBlanc; sister, Wylene Talbot; brother-in-law, Wayne Denson; niece, Lori Naquin; great-niece/nephew, Camille & Braxton.
Chris graduated from Holy Savior Catholic High School in 1971, later becoming a “Derrick Man” on a 30ft high rig for Freeport McMoran. He always, to his very last breath, LOVED people. He loved dancing, making jokes, or any silly thing that could make you smile. He lit up any room with a personality that just grabbed you. He loved to work, & would find something to do to help even if you couldn’t think of anything. He was a fighter. He fought his way back from a traumatic fall & coma, relearning how to walk, talk, run, even drive.
He loved participating in the Crescent City Classic, or other local runs whenever possible. He loved bowling, drawing/coloring/painting (& these were always for someone, always had it planned as a “gift”). He loved games, of any kind, but loved even more if he’d win (Bingo!). Oh, he loved the Saints. He loved exercising, especially when he used to help out at The Workout Company in Mathews. He loved his sweets, his snacks; his sweet-tooth may have even been sweeter than him! He loved visiting, & talking.
He loved God —so fiercely!
He was a proud, proud member of the Knights of Columbus #3054 for 47 years, where he received the Knight of the Year Award in both 1994 and 2008. He loyally held the position of Warden for many years, and his commitment to the Knights went well beyond his position. He was choir member of Holy Savior Catholic Church in years past, as well as a volunteer Firefighter at the Lockport Fire Department, where he received the President’s Award in 1996.
He undoubtedly loved his daughter with all his might —with a miracle of opening his eyes from a coma with a recording of her voice, to make certain all knew where his heart was the whole time. He loved his grandsons hugely, & his mom —his companion & keeper for all the years she was able. He loved his sisters & his brother, who also helped love him through this life with many tasks.
If you had the benefit of meeting him, he loved you too. And he probably prayed for you. He will be greatly missed as we all try to figure out how to live on in his memory. Smile a little more. Dance al little more. Laugh a lot more. It’s how he lives on through us.
