Chase Edward Esponge, 48, a native of Galliano, and resident of Cut Off, passed away Thursday, May 23, 2013.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. until funeral time Monday at Falgout Funeral Home in Galliano. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with burial in the church cemetery.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Wanda Lee Esponge; son, Blake Anthony Esponge and wife, Lacey Bertrand Esponge; parents, Darryl Esponge and Gladys Duet Esponge; paternal grandparents, Lynwood and Irma Callais Esponge; brother, Chuck Esponge and wife, Misty Cormier Esponge; sisters, Angela Esponge, Dana Esponge, and Brandi Gaspard and husband, Wesley; nieces, Lindsey Cheramie, Hannah Esponge and Necie and Sadie Gaspard; great-niece and nephew, Jadie and Jay Lefort; godparents, Marilyn Parks and Wiley Duet; and godchildren, Dwayne "D.J." Garlington Jr., Blaine Gisclair and Hannah Esponge.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Wilfed Duet and Jeannette Thibodeaux Duet.
He was the owner operator of Chase Trucking and enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling and spending time with family and friends. He also enjoyed cruises and parties.
