Charles "Buck" Whittington, Sr.
November 20, 1941 — August 28, 2020
Charles “Buck” Whittington, Sr., 78, a native of DeRidder and a resident of Des Allemands, passed away on Friday, August 28, 2020.
Visitation will be from 9:00 am until 11:00 am on Monday, August 31, 2020 at Des Allemands Mennonite Church, Des Allemands. Religious services will be at 11:00 with burial to follow in Des Allemands Mennonite Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis T. Whittington; daughter, Twanna Arnold (Keith); sons, Chad Whittington (Stephanie), Cyril Whittington (Rebecca) and Charles Whittington Jr. (Misty); grandchildren, Kaleb, Joshua, Jonathan, Whitney, Anna, Abigayle, Ardin, Shaye, Lexye and Braxton; great grandson, Karson; brother, Gregory Whittington and sister, Betty Harper.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sylvester and Ollie Whittington; brother Gerald Whittington and sister, Bobbie Benfield.
Buck was fiercely loyal to his wife and family. He worked hard to provide a comfortable living for his family. Buck enjoyed family get-togethers and traveling later in life in their RV. He was quick-witted with a hearty laugh. He loved puzzles and games.
During his military service in the army, he was a code breaker. Buck enjoyed the outdoors and a good home cooked meal. Sweets were his weakness. He loved watching the weather, old westerns, Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. He doted on his pets, Reuter and Snowball. He dearly loved his grandkids and often bragged about them. He will be dearly missed. The family thanks you for your love, support and prayers.
