Charles Warren Clanton – born December 22, 1930, passed away peacefully June 8, 2017 surrounded by his loving family.
Visitation will be from 9 AM until service time on Tuesday, June 13 at Falgout Funeral Home in Houma. A funeral service will be held at 11
AM in the funeral home chapel with burial to follow at St. Francis de Sales cemetery II.
He was married to his devoted wife, Grace Brunet Clanton for 62 years. Together they had 4 children who he loved dearly; son, Cecil "Warren" Clanton (Cathy); daughters, Rene' Lea (Don), Annette Bourg (David), and Charlotte "Charley Rae" Chauvin (David); 9 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Irvin Clanton and Nona Slack Clanton; and siblings, Winnona Eason and Kenneth and Marvin Clanton.
Charles served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. After leaving the military and returning home to North Louisiana, he decided to pursue a career in Cajun country where he met Grace and they married. He worked in the oilfield, retiring from Western Wireline at the age of 73.
Charles loved his family – fun times were spent playing board games and telling stories of his youth. He was an avid fisherman and golfer, and he could spend hours sitting and watching the birds and squirrels.
The family wishes to express their love and gratitude to his caregiver and newfound family member, Julia Burns.
