Carolyn Chouest Cheramie, a resident of Cut Off, Louisiana, passed away on December 27, 2023.
Visitation will be from 9:00 am until 11:00 am on Saturday, December 30, 2023 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Cut Off, LA. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am with burial to follow in Cheramie Cemetery.
Carolyn was born on a U.S. Air Force base in Miami, Florida in 1944 to Abdon Chouest and Rita Pitre Chouest, both also of Cut Off.
A lifetime resident of Lafourche Parish, she graduated from Larose Cut Off High School in 1962 and Nicholls State University in 1988.
Carolyn was a longtime executive director of the Lafourche Parish Tourist Commission, promoting the parish at events around the country.
Carolyn is survived by her two sons, Doug and Ethan (Jennifer); three grandchildren, Jackson, Annabelle, and Grayson: and two sisters, Louise Dykes and Adele King (Steve Arms).
She was preceded in death by her father, Abdon Chouest, her mother, Rita Pitre Chouest, and her husband of over 50 years, Douglas Cheramie.
Carolyn loved family and fun and everything Cajun and Mardi Gras. She reigned as the 10th queen of the Krewe of Versailles in 1984 and was a member of the Krewe on Orpheus. Carolyn loved hosting friends and her sons’ friends at the “Cheramie Hilton”. She loved cooking for the ones she loved and spent the past 20 years as “Grams” to her three grandchildren.
