Calvin Peter Thibodaux, 89, a native of St. Charles Community and resident of Cut Off then Larose passed away peacefully on Friday December 31, 2021, of cardiovascular health complications.
A small graveside services will be held in the Holy Rosary Cemetery in Larose.
Captain Calvin is survived by his brother Alcide, daughter Leisa T. Gautreaux (Gillis Jr.); grandchildren Trisha Thibodaux (EJ), Janee’ Karle (Brandon), Garrett Gautreaux (Kristie); great grandchildren Elijah, Kindall, and Silas with another great grandbaby on the way, as well as numerous nephews, and nieces.
He is preceded in death by his parents Paul and Lillian Uze’ Thibodaux; his wife of 64 years Irene Smith; his son Kevin J. Thibodaux; brothers Leopold, Joseph, Oscar, and sister Leona Boudreaux.
Captain Calvin was a fisherman (trawler) most of his life as well as a retired dedicated employee of Crosby Tugs. He enjoyed telling stories to his family and friends of his early days working for Lee Brothers in the theater, dance hall, and lugger tugs. His stories of trawling the Gulf Coast were also very interesting and entertaining. While retired, he loved his vintage western shows while maintaining his home, property, and vehicles. Calvin also had a special place in his heart and always made time for his two grand fur babies Costa and Tonteaux (Ole Boy).
PFC Calvin P. Thibodaux was also a proud Veteran of the Korean War.
Calvin’s family would like to express their appreciation for the excellent care of Mr. Calvin to Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs, Swan Law Funeral Home Colorado Springs, Falgout Funeral Home in Raceland, the many nurses and therapist with home health, his housekeeper (Maddie), his sitter (Stacey), his primary care physician Dr. Camile Pitre, as well as all his other specialist doctors and nurses who looked after his wellbeing through the past decades.
