Bridget "Bea" Valerie Danos Bourgeois, 88, born Dec. 18, 1924, and a life-long native of Raceland, broke the surly bonds of earth entering eternal rest Wednesday, July 17, 2013.
Relatives and friends are invited to share in the final farewell in her honor from 9 a.m. until funeral time Monday at St. Mary's Nativity Catholic Church in Raceland. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the church, with burial in the church cemetery.
She is survived by her daughters, Aline Bourgeois Cheramie and husband, Michael, and Elaine Bourgeois Foret and husband, Kenneth; grandchildren, Wade Cheramie, Wendy Cheramie Toups, Matthew Paul Foret and Courtney P. Foret; great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Sheldon and Brandon Cheramie, Kade, Kennedi, Madalyn, Grant Foret and Bryce Toups.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Armance and Joseph Danos; brother, Paul Danos; stepsister, Aline Sevin Theriot; and stepbrother, Joseph Sevin.
Known to many as "Bea" or "Bridge," she will be fondly remembered for her passion for cooking, talents which she lovingly shared with many, her friendship, love of flowers and her wit and desire to make others laugh. She was a homemaker, selfless mother and provider for her children, housekeeper, babysitter and caregiver to many over the years.
