Betty Jane Melancon Naquin

Betty Jane Melancon Naquin of San Antonio, Texas, passed away unexpectedly Oct. 3, 2018 at the age of 73. She was born Jan. 16, 1945 to parents Yves and Inez Melancon in Thibodaux. She grew up as the youngest of six children and attended Raceland High School. On July 21, 1965, she married the love of her life, Rodney Naquin, and the couple raised two daughters in Howe, Texas, where they were active leaders in the church, school and community. Betty worked at Texas Instruments until her retirement in 1998.

Betty was a dedicated daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Betty was a crafty soul who enjoyed developing her artistic side and gifting family and friends with her handiwork. She could nearly always be found in the company of grandchildren or an adventurous group of friends, and sometimes both. She felt particularly blessed to spend her time with either and she consistently blessed those around her. Her ready smile and fun-loving spirit will be missed by all who knew her.

She is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Rhonda Donowho and husband, Bryan, and Rochelle Naquin and husband, Bruce Pollock; five grandchildren, Taylor Donowho, Corynna Coget and husband, Alan, Brooks Donowho, Sawyer Donowho, and Ellie Donowho; her siblings, Harold Melancon, Dolores Ledet, Margaret Daniel and Barbara Rivere; along with many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and her brother, Yves "Buster" Melancon Jr.

Visitation is scheduled for 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, 2018 at Falgout's Funeral Home, 3838 La. 1 in Raceland. Burial will be immediately following at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Thibodaux.
