Betty Jendron Dufrene, 88, a native and resident of Gheens passed away Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 9 a.m. until service time at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Gheens. A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony with burial to follow in the Holy Savior mausoleum in Lockport.
She is survived by her three daughters, Katie Landry and Husband Robert, Lydie Stirrat and husband Tom, Vanessa Mikulka; seven grandchildren, Yale Landry and wife Callie Ashley Bergeron and husband Richard, Hahn Landry and wife Kissie, Tommi Lee Brooks and husband Doug, Dane Stirrat and wife Cindy, Kyle Stirrat and wife Jamie, Christian Stirrat and wife Becky; 16 great-grandchildren, Erin and Derek Landry, Kade Bergeron, Swayze Landry, Lindsay and Kaitlin Brooks, Tiffani Cavender and husband David, Maddox, Delaini, and Dakota Stirrat, Matt Stirrat, Joey Shaw, Elizabeth Danielle Timberman, Lily, Thomas, and Andrew Stirrat; one great-great-grandchild, Brantley Cavender.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl J. Dufrene; father, Sidney Jendron and his wife Nellie; mother, Lydia Dufrene Jendron and her companion William Jackson; sister, Joyce Jendron Taylor Arcement Ferreira; son-in-law, Michael J. Mikulka.
She was raised by her maternal grandfather, Arthur Dufrene and his second wife Therese Delatte. She was a Devout Catholic, a people person, and a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed embroidering, bingo, traveling, gardening, fishing, word search puzzles, going to the casino, and spending quality time with family and friends.
The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Nawaz, Dr. Huddleston, and the staff at St. Anne-Ochsner Hospital, the staff at the Broadway Nursing Home- Delisha, Orielle, Faye, Patricia, Winnie, Jana, Melissa, Ciera, Latisha, Kristi, Meecia, Derika, Lou, and others; Southern Care Hospice, Eileen, and Falgout Funeral Home.
