Bessie Pierce Dufrene (1931 – 2023)
Bessie Pierce Dufrene, 92, a native of Cut Off, LA and a resident of Gheens, LA, passed away surrounded by family on Sunday, October 29, 2023.
Bessie is survived by her children, Steve Dufrene, David Dufrene, Colette Ryals (Johnny), Meril Dufrene, Jr. and Frances Dufrene; grandchildren, Angeline (Kelly), Rory (Tasha), Jeremy (Ashley), Heidi (James), Jacob (Jessica), Amanda, Christopher, Caroline (Royal), Meril “Joseph” III (Lindsey) and Natalie (Paul); great grandchildren, Jordan, Sarah, Brennan, Brandon, Kylie, Averie, Aubrie, Riley, Eli, Jackson, Liam, James Jr., Elizabeth and Layden; great-great grandchildren, Adalynn, Braxton, Zaiden, Wyatt, Carter, Elliana, Joshua and baby on the way, Aaralyn.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Meril J. Dufrene, Sr.; parents, Cyrus and Elucia Terrebonne Pierce; brothers, Nessie Pierce, Tom Pierce, Milton “Chow” Pierce and sisters, Gertie Gentry and Bernice Lerille.
Bessie was a loving mother, grandmother and mother-in-law that will be deeply missed.
We would like to thank Journey Hospice for their compassionate care. A special thanks to her nurses, Bailey and Callie; social worker, Colette; Deacon, Jimmy and CNA, Patrice for their family support.
Private graveside services will be later.
