Benson "Benny" Toups, 97, a native of Donner and resident of Raceland, died at 8:15 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11, 2011.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to funeral time Tuesday at St. Hilary Catholic Church in Mathews. Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church, with burial at Resurrection Memorial Park Cemetery in Mathews.
He is survived by one son, Benson Toups Jr. and wife, Joan; five daughters, Jacqualine Borne and husband, Emile Jr., Patricia Duplantis and husband, Wilbert Jr., Peggy Sue Wiltz and husband, Lawrence Jr., Brenda Ward, and Edna Plaisance and husband, Steve; and 19 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ernestine Burfitt Toups; his parents, Albert and Albertine Zeringue Toups; one brother, Albert Toups; two sisters, Jeanne Scott and May Baudoin; and one grandchild.
He was a parishioner of St. Hilary Catholic Church.
