Arthur "Art" Levaughn Chester

Arthur “Art” Levaughn Chester, age 83, passed away on Sunday, June 26, 2022 at 9:45 a.m. He was a native of Statesboro, GA and a resident of Bayou Gauche, LA.

A Memorial will be held at a later date in Ida, LA.

Art is survived by his son, Kevin Chester (Beverly), and Greg Chester (Mona); sister, Brenda Parker; 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Art was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jean “Ma Jean” Petty Chester; son, Daniel Michael Chester; daughter, Mary Michelle Chester; parents, Arthur Taylor and Rita Mae Newton Chester; sisters, Billie Jean Wilson, and Glenda Ellis.

Art was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He cherished his family and enjoyed playing his guitar and singing with family and friends. Fishing and hunting were also favorite pastimes of his. He was a Vietnam Veteran and served in the US Air F orce. He retired from Union Carbide after working there for 28 years. He also volunteered for years with the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue Team.
