Annie Elizabeth Waguespack, was born on Nov. 6, 1915, and died at 12:02 a.m. Thursday, March 21, 2013, at her home in Lockport with family members at her side.
A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Savior Catholic Church in Lockport. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harris Joseph and Josephine Melancon Waguespack; sisters, Gleo LeCompte, Marion Waguespack and Anna Mae McClain; and brother, Harris Waguespack.
She was a lifelong resident of Lafourche Parish, where she was a teacher for nearly 40 years. She graduated from Northwestern State University with a two-year teaching certificate. She obtained her four-year degree at LSU. She received her master's degree at Peabody College in Nashville and later 30-plus hours from Loyola, Tulane and Northwestern State University. She traveled across the United States and abroad. She loved spending time with her family and friends and enjoying good food and beverages. She belonged to several organizations and gave her time unselfishly. She touched many lives through the Red Cross, CODOFIL, Louisiana Teachers Association and many others.
She will be sadly missed by many.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in her name may be made to Holy Savior Catholic Church in Lockport, St. Anthony's Altar.
Falgout Funeral Home in Raceland is in charge of arrangements.
