Alvin "Kek Do" Charpentier

August 5, 1933 — September 10, 2017

Alvin "Kek Do" Charpentier, a lifelong resident of Cut Off passed away Sunday, September 10, 2017 at the age of 84.
He was survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Beatrice Vegas Charpentier; daughters, Susan Kilgen (Kirk) and Tammy Charpentier; grandchildren, Koby & Krista Kilgen, Shaun Harris (Priscilla), William "Dak" Harris; great-grandchildren, Eli & Mia Harris; brothers, Steven Charpentier (Anna Mae); Lawrence Charpentier (Rose); sister-in-law, Elsie Charpentier.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roseluce & Viola Charpentier; son, Daniel Charpentier; brother, Henry Charpentier; sister, Doris Charpentier.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a visitation on Friday, September 15, 2017 at Falgout Funeral Home in Galliano from 5-7 p.m.
Visitation will resume on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at Sacred Heart Church in Cut Off from 9 a.m. until funeral time. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Alvin began running a shrimp boat at the age of 15. When he was 18, he began service to the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was also in the U.S Army Reserves. Upon returning from overseas he was captain of commercial shrimp boats over 45 years. He was a volunteer fireman at the Belle Ami Fire Station where he served as President.
He was a skilled carpenter and mechanic. He had many hobbies such as jigsaw puzzles, and making origami birds that he would hand out to children. He loved seeing their eyes light up and the joy that the birds brought them.
He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-granchildren. He was an avid Saints and LSU football fan.
