Alvin Joseph Adams, 86, a native of Lockport and resident of Algiers, passed away at 2:56 p.m. Sunday, May 5, 2013 in Marrero.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until funeral time Friday at Holy Savior Catholic Church, 612 Church St. in Lockport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the church, with burial in the church cemetery.
He was the beloved husband of Nettie Guidroz Adams; father of Robbie Adams and wife, Adele, and the late Robin Adams; son of the late Alphonse and Ezolean Ougal Adams; brother of Guy and Guthrie Adams; and grandfather of Elzse and Yvette Adams.
He was a member of the National Horticultural Club and worked for LSU for 45 years as director at the Plaquemines Parish Experimental Station. Alvin received his BS and Masters at LSU. He was also a paratrooper in World War II during the occupation of Japan.
