Alva B. Chigihizola

Alva B. Chighizola, 94, a native and resident of Grand Isle passed away on Wednesday, February 23rd, 2022.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 5th, 2022 at Our Lady of the Isle Catholic Church in Grand Isle from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm.

Mrs. Alva is survived by her son: J. Kelly Chighizola, Jr.; grandchildren: Deacon Guidry, Glenn Chance, Jr., Bridgett Besson Landry, April Chance Arceneaux, Frank Besson, Jr., Mandy Chance Gomez, Simon Besson, Sr., Kenny Lopinto, Jr., and Jacob Chighizola; 15 great grandchildren; and sister: Sylvia Hughes.

Mrs. Chighizola was preceded in death by her husband: Kelly Chighizola; daughters: Penny Besson and Peggy Chance; parents: Maxime Blazio and Ermine Blazio; sister: Elsie Deffes; and brother: Clamcy “Nu Nu” Blazio.

Alva was a devout Catholic and a volunteer at Our Lady of the Isle Catholic Church for over 60 years. She was very focused about keeping up her home and yard, and a very hard worker.

The family would like to thank the staff at Heritage Manor of Napoleonville, especially Mr. Andre Guidry and Ms. Anita St. Pierre, for their care, comfort, and support.
