Aline F. Foret, 107, was born in 1913 to the late Theodule Fournier and Ida Toups Fournier. She passed away on October 21, 2021.
Visitation will be held at Saint Joseph Catholic Church, Galliano, Louisiana for family and friends on Thursday, October 28, 2021 from 9:00 am until 11:00 am until funeral time. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am. Burial will be at a later date.
She is survived by her daughter, Dianne “Happy” Hawthorne of Houma; grandchildren, Lisa Arceneaux, Deanne “Dee Dee” St. Clergy (Greg) of Houma and Harvie “Buster” Hawthorne, Jr. (Mica) of Richmond, Texas; and four great grandchildren, Mollie St. Clergy, Amalie, Briggs and Addax Hawthorne.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gillis Foret; her faithful friend of twenty-two years, Enest Pierce; two sisters, Odette Gutierrez and Gladys St. Cyr and her son-in-law, Harvie Hawthorne, Sr.
She was the sunshine in the lives of her family and friends, who were inspired by her good humor, energy, and spirit. She enjoyed gardening, fishing and cooking. She was the author of two cookbooks, retired form Lady of the Sea Hospital, and was the last surviving charter member of the Golden Meadow Women’s Club. She had a famous saying, “We can’t all be stars, but we can all twinkle!”
In lieu of flowers, we ask that you please donate a book in her memory to any library. She spent her last years at the Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Houma, where she read constantly. Everyone made her feel like a queen and her family will always be grateful to each and everyone of you.
