Alfred was a graduate of LSU with a master’s degree in agriculture which he pursued after serving in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a retired County Agent of Terrebonne Parish working through the Louisiana State University Cooperative Extension Service. He loved his job, which included meeting, educating, and helping people all over the parish. After retirement, his service continued as a member of the Terrebonne Parish School board. As a faithful follower of Jesus Christ, he attended First Baptist Church, Houma (now Covenant Church) for many years where he served as a deacon. His craftsman skills were used as a volunteer with Campers on a Mission to help rebuild and restore churches all over the south. He loved working with wood, hunting, and fishing and would go out of his way to help anyone with a need.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate his life on Friday, December 15, 2023. The visitation will be held from 9 am to 10 am at Covenant Church in Houma followed by a service officiated by Dr. Steve Folmar.
During the final months of his life, Alfred was blessed to have a caregiver, companion, and friend to help him through. Joshua Naquin was a blessing to Alfred and the Cooley family. We are all thankful for the gift of his care and love. He is a true angel on earth.
