Albert Peter “Papa Pete” “Pedot” Fitch, 83 passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, August 20, 2023, at 11:59am. He was born January 6, 1940 in Grand Caillou, LA and a resident of Houma, LA.
Family and friends are invited to attend visitation on Thursday, August 24, 2023 at Falgout Funeral Home from 5:00pm until 9:00pm and continue Friday, August 25, 2023 from 9:00am until 10:30am. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00am at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary in Houma, LA with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
“Papa Pete” is survived by his four daughters, Wanda Moore (Dalton), Miriam Oubre (Vernon), Alberta “Beatle” Brown, and Tanya Duplantis (James); two brothers, Larry (Peggy) & Ranny (Donna) Fitch, and one sister Marian Smiley (Glynn); ten grandchildren, Tiffany Moore Lovell, Candace Oubre France, Brandon Oubre, Derrin & Dameon Lapeyrouse, Amanda & Cassandra Brown, Ashley & Jimmie Duplantis and Courtney Duplantis Guidry; 23 great-grandchildren, Casey, Casen, & Natalee Lovell, Isaiah Oubre, Owen & Noah France, Briley Foret, Shauna Smith, Dakoda Lapeyrouse, Jacques & Derias Lapeyrouse, Draven Brown, Makalya Hargrave, Braxten Guidry, Landen Boudreaux, Catori, Xander, Khole, & Choleana Brown, Xadrian & Trinity Brown, Nevaeh Guidry, & Colston Dardar; nine step great-grandchildren, Alyssa Pellegrin, Kaitlyn, Kylie, Myla, Kaydence, & Kohl Guidry, Kamden & Kinley Vizier, Kambree Boudreaux, and 2 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Clara “Mama Jean” Verdin Fitch; son Guy Trosclair; parents, Junius Winchester “Chester” and Cecil Smith Fitch; sisters, Mary F. Bennett, Eveline F. Verdin, & Helen M. Fitch; brothers, Roland P. Fitch, Ernest Fitch, Theophile Adam Fitch, Raymond I. Fitch, Willie A. Fitch, Michael Fitch, Thaddeus J. Fitch, Leroy J. Fitch, and Ronald T. Fitch.
He spent his life as a Tugboat Captain for various Boat Companies. His life as a Captain brought him much love and fulfilment and he became well known among his fellow Captains.
“Papa Pete” was the beloved name used by his immediate family and he was loved by many and he will be greatly missed. He had a special gift for “telling you like it is” and his feisty spirit will be missed. All are blessed to have crossed his path.
