Acie A. Weatherford, 67, a native of Monroe and resident of Raceland, passed away at 9:55 p.m. Friday, July 12, 2013, in Thibodaux.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at Falgout Funeral Home in Raceland and from 8 a.m. until funeral time Saturday at St. Mary Catholic Church in Raceland. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, with burial in the church cemetery.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Linda Weatherford; children. Sammy Petrolia III and Denise W. Thibodeaux and husband, Gary; grandchildren, Kelsey and Ali Thibodeaux and Sammy and Hunter Petrolia; brothers, Trevor Weatherford, of French Settlement, and Hubert and Irvin Plaisance, of Georgia; and sisters, Joeann Hendricks, of Kentucky, Shirley Bruno and Jody Dupre, of French Settlement, Dot Boudreaux, of Bayou Blue, and Carmaline Hendricks, of Houma.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph I. Weatherford and Edith Plaisance.
He was employed by Dantin Chevrolet in Thibodaux.
The family would like to thank Mr. Carroll Dantin for the understanding and patience given to us at this time of illness. We would also like to thank some of the nurses on the third floor at Thibodaux Regional Medical Center for their great care, Melanie, Salina, Shannon, Kristan Braud and Linda.
Acie was a member and past Grand Knight of Knights of Columbus Council Pope Pius XII No. 4761. He volunteered at the Good Samaritan Food Bank. He was a very good husband, father and grandfather. He will sadly be missed by all who knew and loved him. He enjoyed watching the Saints and LSU football teams. He also enjoyed watching his granddaughter's basketball team, the Lady Bengals.
