Douglas J. Rodriguez, 95, a native of Gheens and resident of Raceland passed away on Sunday, May 22, 2022.
Visitation will be held at St. Hilary of Poitiers Catholic Church on Friday, May 27th from 10:00 a.m. until funeral time. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
He is survived by his sons, Gregory (Mary) Rodriguez, Kern (Phyllis) Rodriguez, Audie (Deborah) Rodriguez, Cornell Rodriguez and Mark (Charlene) Rodriguez; daughter, Tonya R. (Terry) Dies; companion, Vanolia Dumond; sister, Audrey Matherne; 22 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Kyle Rodriguez, parents, Whitney and Laura Sampey Rodriguez; sisters, Elta Dufrene, Norma Foret and Cleo Landeche.
His favorite time was spent dancing and spending time with his family and friends.
He retired from Avondale Shipyard after 40 years.
He served in the Army during World War II as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne. He was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. and also a member of the American Legion.
He will be missed by his family and friends.
